MoCo Distribution

"Ever since I first contacted Comcheck System's Ltd. in 2002 I have been provided an excellent level of service. Every project has been handled with the utmost care and attention to our specific needs and has been executed to a high standard. I really feel that Comcheck listens to what it is we need to achieve and takes note of how we like to work as a company.
We have a dedicated IT consultant who I am in constant contact with and is always available to solve any technical issues that can not be handled in house. I find him very informative, efficient and above all, easy to work with.
Comcheck is a company that is very pro-active and works hard to maintain a good relationship with us. I don't have the time to keep updated on industry changes or the latest software technology etc so its nice to know that I have a company who I can trust to offer advice and solutions where needed in this constantly changing market.
I would not hesitate in recommending Comcheck as a top class IT Support and Services company."
Phil Long - Operations Manager, MoCo Communications
MoCo is a privately owned limited company and one of the leading distributors and suppliers of mobile phone services in the UK.
Formed in 1985, MoCo was awarded one of the first BT licences for mobile services and began selling to businesses and other dealers in the South East and West London areas. Since then, the business has developed into a thriving, multi-functioning company, covering both business and distribution.
With an annual turnover in 2006 of over £25 million, 45 employees based at their head office in Rochester and a customer base that now spans from Scotland to Northern Ireland and back across the country to Kent, MoCo is one of the leading players in the supply of mobile communications in the UK.
MoCo initially contacted Comcheck in 2002, having been recommended by one of our existing clients, to assist their in house IT department on the installation and configuration of Microsoft Small Business Server. Due to the success of this project, a strong relationship was formed and Moco now outsource all their project work to Comcheck as well as Ad hoc support to any IT issues that can not be resolved in house. Comcheck also supply Moco with all their hardware, software and consumables.
Since the initial contact, Comcheck has provided services in the following:
- Installation and configuration of Microsoft Small Business Server
- Assisting internal IT support team with the planning, upgrades and deployment of additional IT Systems
- Cabling Project - Planning and Installation of Fibre run between two communications rooms, upgrade of network infrastructure from 10/100 platform to 10/100/1000 gigabit network
- Communications room relocation and upgrade of communications room equipment
- Consolidation of Servers
- Disaster Recovery
Example of Project Work
Server Consolidation & Upgrade Project
Problem
After rapid growth, MoCo required a consolidation of existing server hardware. They had 10+ servers all performing different roles and becoming obsolete. They also wanted to reduce the number of servers to create more space in the existing communications room with as little disruption as possible to the day to day running of the business. Downtime is not an option for MoCo as they rely heavily on their IT infrastructure in order for their business to run efficiently, so a solution had to be developed to ensure this would not happen.
Solution
Comcheck worked closely with MoCo's in house project management team to assess their expectations of the project, offer advice, and propose a cost effective and time efficient solution.
It became apparent that due to lack of space and poor ventilation and cooling that the existing comms room was no longer suitable to support the increasing demands on the IT infrastructure. An alternative site was suggested and plans were put in place to carry out the move.
Comcheck assisted in the relocation of existing communications room to a better suited location, consolidation of servers onto new HP Hardware taking 10+ server's down to 5, installation of new communications cabinet and rackmount servers resulting in centralised storage and management of server and network equipment, installation and configuration of Fibre connection as well as upgrade from 10/100 network platform to 10/100/1000 gigabit network to speed up network traffic.
All work was performed out of hours so no downtime was experienced.
The Bespoke Kitchen & Interiors Ltd

“At Bespoke we run a very wide ranging suite of software from fully animated CAD drawing packages to our own project management software which we have written and Comcheck continue to integrate and manage whatever we throw at them, the support they offer means just that, any problems we have are sorted, without fuss, straight away.”
Tom Flood - Managing Director, The Bespoke Kitchen & Interiors Ltd.
The Bespoke Kitchen & Interiors Ltd is a leading designer and manufacturer of stunning furniture for your home. They use design expertise to deliver a truly unique project, making the whole process enjoyable and exceeding customers expectations.
Catering for between 40 and 60 projects a year, an efficient and reliable IT System that is easy to access, is paramount to their business.
Bespoke Kitchen Ltd initially contacted Comcheck via recommendation when their existing supplier could no longer support their IT systems. They needed a reliable and trustworthy company that could take complete control of their existing IT network of 1 server and 10 users.
The Problem
Comcheck performed a complete health check on their existing system which included an analysis of their hardware and software, data back-up and security testing. It was concluded that their Server hardware had become redundant, the existing set up was becoming obsolete and too slow to support Bespoke’s growth, the resilience was poor with several points of failure being identified. Had a disk in the server failed it would have gone to disaster recovery causing the company massive downtime with a huge financial loss.
The Solution
Comcheck centralised their system by installing Microsoft Small Business Server providing Bespoke with a more stable network and an all-in-one HP server solution designed to help keep their data more secure and the company more productive. It provides many features, such as e-mail, internet connectivity, internal web sites, remote access, support for mobile devices, file and printer sharing, backup, and restore.
Through instigating the above Bespoke now benefit from a reliable, efficient and cost effective IT network that is constantly monitored and maintained by Comcheck's IT consultants. Whenever a problem has occurred, an IT consultant has performed both remote and onsite support resolving issues promptly and only suggesting updates where necessary.
Bespoke have been outsourcing their IT to Comcheck for the past 5 years and have continued to benefit from the excellent advice and support received from their account manager and helpdesk team.
“It's quite simple really, having Comcheck on board gives me one less thing to worry about, they do exactly what they say on the tin”
London Metals
www.londonmetals.co.uk
“Comcheck have been supporting our company’s IT Systems for over 20 years, and as our main consultants consistently deliver a high standard of service.”
Phillip Walsh, Financial Director, London Metals Ltd
Founded in 1980, London Metals Limited is now widely considered to be a market leader in the financing marketing and distribution of a wide range of Primary and Secondary Metals, Alloys, Chemicals and Industrial products.
As early as 1993, London Metals became one of the first international traders of metals and chemicals to achieve ISO 9002 certification, and have since grown into a well established and successful business with a reputation of reliability throughout the world.
Overview
Comcheck Systems Ltd had been providing support and hardware services to London Metals since the first installation of a Novell 2.15 Network in 1989. The company progressed through several revision's of Netware with a transition to Microsoft NT 4 in the late 90's. The company then decided, based upon Comcheck Systems recommendation, to move to Microsoft Small Business Server 2003 with the added benefits that this Operating system provided.
Solution
Having decided that their best course of action was to have a single Microsoft Small business Server, it was crucial to the business that downtime was kept to an absolute minimum during the implementation and subsequent data migration. A reliable hardware platform was essential and a customised Intel Server was built to London Metals specific requirements. The server hardware and software build was accomplished at Comcheck's offices and then after extensive soak testing transferred to London Metals for integration into the current network for data migration.
The remaining configuration of SBS was finished at London Metals office together with the configuration of the Firewall and internet access. Data migration was undertaken out of normal working hours thus minimising unproductive time. Also during this period Comcheck Systems specified and installed a Wireless network which co existed with their existing cabling infrastructure.
Conclusion
Several years on and Comcheck Systems are still providing hardware and software support and providing recommendations to keep the network running efficiently and faultlessly as possible. London Metals are currently moving to new premises and together with Comcheck Systems will be upgrading to the 2008 SBS platform
LNG Group 1
Liquefied Natural Gas Venture Project
Overview
Comcheck were approached by an LNG Group company to quote for a complete office system to provide email, file shares, user accounts and access restrictions, printing and internet access for around 10 users, with an estimated user increase to 30 or so within 2 years. As this was a new LNG project starting from scratch in a managed office in London, they were keen to have someone manage their IT needs and provide services and hardware as and when required by them.
The Solution
After some discussion with the company Comcheck decided their best course of action was to have a single Microsoft Small Business Server Solution (SBS 2003). This enabled them to have all the required services running on one highly specified server.
It was explained to the company that SBS would only support them to a maximum of 75 users, before which time this new project would either be commissioned in full and relocate to new premises for the next stage, or it would close down and the next project started. Either way, new hardware & software could be provided at the time to match their requirements. We choose one of HP’s Proliant servers with 2 CPU’s, 4GB ram (as much as the 32bit OS could support) and a RAID5 disk array to provide both fault tolerance with performance.
Comcheck configured and installed the server and set up Small Business Server along with a Juniper Firewall and ADSL for internet access. We assisted with the registration of their chosen domain name and configured an SMTP feed for it, along with allowing users remote access to their email via Outlook Web Access on the SBS server as well as remote access to the network’s data shares.
Desktop and laptop hardware was also provided and configured to the network as and when required for new starters on the project. This coincided with regular maintenance checks on the hardware/server software and routine checks on the backup solution.
Comcheck were able to provide flexible support as and when it was needed which exactly suited the projects needs.
Conclusion
Having chosen Comcheck to provide support on a case by case basis, the project benefited from a flexible low cost solution without sacrificing the security and resilience of their IT infrastructure. Comcheck were happy to be there for them, as and when the project required it’s expertise.
Several years on and Comcheck are still providing support for the project, on the same case by case basis. The ongoing success of their relationship with the LNG Group enabled the project to successfully move into full production and expanded out from SBS server to a full Server 2003 infrastructure at it’s new site premises. Comcheck work alongside the projects own full time internal IT team to assist with new projects, servers and hardware installations to this day.
Hotwax Associates Limited
www.hotwaxassociates.co.uk
“Hotwax Associates have been working with Comcheck Systems since 2003, with the IT support company being instrumental in supplying our ADSL lines, office hardware and all of our current and past machines. Through Kingston Communications, they also support our website and host all of our domains, including email and data forwarding. The team at Comcheck have proved to be a superb asset to our company, without whom we could undoubtedly have lost current business due to the many technical issues that we have encountered over the years.
As technology has changed, Comcheck has always offered us impartial and practical advice on complete solutions, they are a great supplier that we could not do without.”
Bradley Scott Wilson, Manager, Hotwax Associates Limited
For over 15 years, Hotwax Associates Limited have been developing into a highly successful business specialising in all areas of event entertainment provision. They are regarded for their first class professionalism, high quality sound systems and lighting solutions in the corporate and private function markets.
Comcheck has supported and maintained Hotwax Associates IT systems for the past 6 years and has helped move the business forward by suggesting ways of improving their IT systems to increase productivity as well as reducing their monthly IT expenditure.
One of the key areas in which Comcheck has demonstrated this is by enhancing the interaction between Hotwax and their customers through implementing bespoke hosted solutions via our partnership with Kingston Communications. This included supplying and maintaining Hotwax's ADSL lines, web hosting giving them an online web presence which increased service awareness and generated new business, supplied and maintain all their domains and implemented a new data forwarding system.
The Problem
Hot wax realised that productivity was being affected by the amount of time they were spending out of the office without access to email. Due to the nature of their business, a lot of their time is spent on-site setting up and overseeing events. They needed a system put in place which meant they could access their network remotely as well as receive email on their blackberry hand held devices.
The Solution
As Hotwax is a small business of less than 5 users, Comcheck needed to come up with a solution that was going to increase productivity but at a cost effective rate. We suggested a Hosted Exchange Service which would enable them to access email and all the functionality that comes with Microsoft Exchange Server without the cost of installing a server at their base. Hosted Exchange also enabled them to access email, shared calendars, contacts, task lists and more on their blackberry device so they could be out of the office but always in touch with their customers.
As a result, Hotwax have now increased productivity when on-site and travelling as well as providing a better customer service to all their Clients. The team are much more accessible, responsive and most importantly, can manage their time better enabling them to focus on their business with minimum downtime making the working day more rewarding.
